How do I use Sidecar Health at the doctor’s office, urgent care, or surgery center?

1. Call your doctor, the urgent care, or surgery center ahead of your visit, tell them you are paying for the visit as a self-pay patient, and verify the procedure code(s) and cost for your medical service(s). If you don’t have a specific doctor in mind, you can use the Sidecar Health member portal, available at member.sidecarhealth.com, to find one near you. We also recommend calling a few places to compare prices. 
2. Use the ‘Estimate care’ tab in the Sidecar Health member portal to see the estimated Benefit Amount(s) your plan will pay. You will be responsible for paying the difference between the Benefit Amount your plan will pay for the visit and what the doctor charges. As a reminder, if the provider’s price is less than the Benefit Amount, you keep the difference.
3. Pay for your medical services using your own payment method or your Sidecar Health VISA benefit card.
4. After your service, submit your final, itemized medical bill to Sidecar Health via the member portal so we can adjudicate your claim and determine your actual Benefit Amount.
