Why can’t I re-enroll in my Sidecar Health Access Plan?
⚠️ Effective May 24, 2024, Sidecar Health will no longer be offering the Access Plan
Here's what this means for current Access Plan members:
- You won't be able to sign up for a new Access Plan policy or re-enroll in your existing plan.
- Your current coverage is still active. You can continue using your plan and accessing the member portal as usual.
- Termination flexibility: You have the option to terminate your plan at any time with prior notice to us. Please refer to your policy documents for details on terminating the policy.
- Explore new coverage options: Since re-enrollment in the Access Plan won't be available, consider exploring other health insurance options to ensure continuous coverage. The upcoming ACA Open Enrollment period begins November 1, 2024.
Why the change?
Sidecar Health is strategically focusing its resources on expanding its major medical insurance offerings to serve a wider range of healthcare needs. This resulted in the difficult decision to discontinue marketing and administering the Access Plan.
Common questions and answers:
- Where can I confirm my policy end date? You can find your full policy details in your member portal account. Go to Account > Coverage > Full Benefits.
- Does this change impact my current coverage? No, your current coverage is still active. You can continue using your plan and accessing the member portal as usual. This change only affects your ability to re-enroll in the Access Plan after May 24, 2024.
- Can I cancel my plan early? You have the flexibility to terminate your plan at any time with prior notice to us. Please refer to your policy documents for details on termination.
- What happens if I have expenses after my policy ends? You have a 90-day grace period following your coverage end date to submit claims for care received during your coverage period.
