What are account credits and how can I check my balances?
Account credits are funds that can be used to pay premiums or outstanding expense balances. They can also be redeemed via check.
Receiving credits
There are 2 ways to receive account credits:
- Choosing care that costs less than your Benefit Amount
With Sidecar Health, you have the unique opportunity to earn cash back when shopping for care. Credit is received when you choose care that costs less than the amount your plan covers (known as the Benefit Amount). For example, if you find a provider that charges $100 for a service and your Benefit Amount is $150, the $50 difference will be applied as a credit to your account. Note: if you have a deductible, that $50 would instead go towards lowering your out-of-pocket deductible expenses. - Paying a provider for covered services with your own payment method
If you pay a provider with your own payment method instead of the Sidecar Health VISA benefit card, any amount your plan covers (known as the Benefit Amount) will be credited to your account. You’ll receive this credit once your expense is processed and the Benefit Amount is calculated.
Applying credits to premiums
Your account credit will automatically be applied to your premium every billing cycle. If your account credit doesn’t cover the full premium, your payment method on record will pay the remaining balance.
Applying credits to expenses
Your account credit will automatically be applied when you are found to have a balance on an expense. That occurs each time you use the Sidecar Health VISA Benefit Card or when an expense is processed. If your account credit doesn’t cover the full balance, you will owe the remaining balance.
Withdrawing credits
Your account credit can be withdrawn from your account at any time and will be sent from Sidecar Health directly via check to your address on file.
