How do I get an itemized medical invoice from MyChart?
What is MyChart?
MyChart is a popular patient portal used by many providers – especially hospitals – that connects patients to their EMR (electronic medical records). MyChart is generally used for scheduling, price estimates, billing, reviewing test results, and more. MyChart can also be a tool to help you quickly gain access to your itemized medical invoices.
Can I use MyChart to get my itemized medical invoice?
If your provider has configured MyChart to do so, you may be able to see an itemized invoice in your MyChart without having to contact them or wait for a paper mail invoice to be delivered. Using MyChart may allow you to bypass waiting and access your benefits quicker.
What do my itemized medical invoices need to include?
The itemized bill must include the following information:
- Patient's name
- Provider’s name and National Provider Identifier (NPI) number
- Date(s) of service
- The amount charged by the provider for each service
- CPT codes for the services
- Reason for the services (including all ICD-10 diagnosis codes)
Some providers have not configured their itemized invoices in MyChart to be comprehensive enough for us to determine your benefits. You may need to speak with your provider directly or wait for a more comprehensive bill for us to be able to process your claim.
